One year. One city. Endless opportunities.

Get out your Nikons and your Nikes...one of my favorite Web sites is having a Detroit photography contest.

Motor City Connect is one of the sponsors. Imagine if Linked In and Facebook had a baby -- that's MCC. The site connects Detroit professionals and business people to exchange ideas, contacts and the like.

Here's the basics about the contest:

We love our city and state. We see great beauty in the people, the places and potential of Detroit. Let's help the rest of the world see it through our eyes. Enter the "Picture a Brilliant Detroit" photo contest sponsored by Scate Technologies and Motor City Connect. Snap a photo showing a bright side of our region. It could be as simple as a holiday light display, a child laughing, our beautiful surroundings, or fascinating architecture. It could tell a story about what smart businesses and cool people are doing in our area. It could shine a light on great things about our hometown. Just take your photo, upload and share your photo on ScreenTweet before December 23rd.

Neal Rubin (the most awesome features writer in my book) did a column about the contest in today's Detroit News.
